Smoking Should Be Banned in Schools

Tuesday, June 14, 2011

It was clearly posted on the wall that there was no smoking in school. However one parent refused to follow it and was even standing in front of the gate. I was irritated when I saw him on the car mirror. The school attendant should have told him considering there were small children inside.

Wouldn't you be furious as well if you saw this???

My Favorite Pens: Parker

Monday, June 13, 2011

I'm a lover of books, papers, pencils and pens. When I got a ballpen for a kris kringle in my college years, I jumped for joy. Pens make me happy. Even now, hubby brings home pens given by med reps. He knows how much I love it. So far my I have a big tin can full of different kins of pens. I lost count.

However, these pens are my favorite, Parker pens. Some are given to me, others I took from my mom's store and some I just had to buy for myself. And since it's not that cheap, I just buy one in a year. This is not the complete collection anymore. I've notice my sister taking some of my pens.

I'm hoping to collect the different colors. And I would also love to collect other brands as well. But for now, these will do.

It's On!

Look what came in the mail a few days ago!

My cordlife kit

What's inside! They also included a book on what to expect the first year.
So we're on! Thank you Ms. Angelita Castelo for being patient with me in all my inquiries.

My Very Own Cambridge Satchel

Saturday, June 11, 2011

When I first saw this bag online, I knew I just got have it. But the problem was, it's sold in Manila while I'm in Davao. Another thing, I'm pregnant which makes it hard for me to travel anywhere, on a plane. Good thing though my cousin is going to Manila (YAY!).

This has been my everyday bag, fetching my daughter in school or going to the mall with my kids.

This is my 14 inch cambridge in vintage brown.

On our way to the mall.

Going to fetch my daughter to school.

What's inside my bag. I also put in my 2 phones (ipone and myphone) plus a small towel.

Why I love the bag?

> it's a structured bag so it stays in shape no matter what I do.

> my things are kept organized.

> light which is the opposite of what I was expecting.

> easy to open and close the flap which is another surprise for me.

> adjustable strap which makes it versatile for however I wear it.

Makes me want to buy more with another color, a yellow, red or green perhaps.

My Recents Finds at Meandluc Davao

Friday, June 10, 2011

I was looking for an eating utensils for my daughter R. Went to big malls but they don't have the types that I was looking for. Basically it's a metal utensil with plastic grip, the kind a kid can hold for herself. No luck on finding them at department stores. Then I stumbled upon the facebook page of Meandluc. They are resellers of Ikea items. And jackpot, found what I was looking for.

Here are the recent finds I got from their store.

R loves her new toy. So thus K. (P1100)

She and K didn't wanna leave the store without this.

For R's baon. (P300)

Pen holder. For my Office (P180 for 2)
Can't wait to visit their store again when the new items arrive.

You can visit their facebook page here or you can visit their store located in front of Ateneo de Davao High School. You just might find what you're looking for.

Reese's First Day in School

Thursday, June 9, 2011

Reese is my first born. So for her to go to school is such a big thing for me and my husband. I didn't know what to expect really. I can still remember my first day in school. I was crying and didn't want my grandma to leave.

I've read everything that was needed in school and bought them. Knowing my daughter, I brought extra food, diapers and all. At first everything went perfect. No cries, she was singing and dancing. She didn't mind that there were lots of other kids playing. By 11 am, she was beginning to show signs of stress. We were still allowed to view them through the glass window so she could see me. The teacher was telling her to look at the person in front of her (another teacher). She started bowing her head and I knew then what was going to happen. Tears were starting to flow down her eyes. Soon enough she cried. I knew that she wanted her milk bottle. So I told the teacher I'd feed her for a couple of minutes.

We were sitting at the stairs and she was drinking her milk. We changed her diaper. She was telling me she didn't wanna go back. But I told her that I'd go with her. For a while she was clinging on to me. But when the teacher walked in with the boxes of crayons, she wanted to go to her table. Soon she was enjoying coloring the paper. I slipped out of the room and she didn't notice.

By lunch time, their lunch bags were by their tables and everyone was hungry. It was the first time she fed herself without yaya or me by her side. I was proud of her. I knew she was having a hard time but she was learning also. I was a very proud mother. She was taught how to clean up after herself which was a bit funny because she just shoved everything in the bag. But teacher taught her how to put everything in its place.

After eating, my second daughter who happened to have awaken from a long sleep inside the car was already looking at the glass window. When Reese saw her younger sister, she wanted to go out and play with her. But teacher wouldn't let her out which started the second bout of crying until the end of the class.

.

Overall though, it was a great day. I was a proud mother and she was a learning student. I'm hoping she'd finish the school year. I can she that she was learning a lot. I'm crossing my fingers for the days ahead.

Blessing

Wednesday, June 8, 2011

Whenever you hear a bad news, do you easily get mad and lash out at somebody or do you take time alone and reflect at how you're gonna deal with it? It's not easy to control emotions especially when it's something that really ticks you off.

I found out that one of our housemaids is pregnant. Her boyfriend is my brother's bodyguard. I don't know what pushed my button but when i got the text from some anonymous neighbor who happen to have texted 2 of my cp numbers, I was irritated. I wanted to lash out and shout at them. But I couldn't speak to her just yet. I had to wait for my daughter to sleep so I can leave the kids to hubby.

When we sat down, i couldn't get to shout at her. Instead we had a very serious conversation. Maybe I realized that there is no point in being mad. Everything has happened and there is nothing to change it.

I forgot to mention that the guy has 2 kids from a previous relationship. I was told by the housemaid that he was never married in church or on any legal documents.

In the end I told her to save money starting today and not to leave everything up to the guy. I gave her a list of what she needed to do and what she needed to buy. She decided to stop working and take a much needed rest. She was beginning to have the first trimester blues.

Looking back, maybe I was mad because I got the news from somebody else. But with a baby involved, I can never say it's a mistake. I told her that a baby is "always" a blessing!

Head Lice Invasion

Thursday, June 2, 2011

It's been known that children sometimes get head lice due to the constant exposure they have under the sun. But not too often they get them from adults who indeed have head lice, adult and eggs. Just is the case of our house helps and my kid.

Not only were the other house helps infected, so why my eldest daughter. It is not something that I am proud of and I know a lot of kids do have them. So when yaya found a few eggs in my daughter's hair, I immediately bought permethrin for my kid. I told hubby about it and he suggested that we treat everyone in the house. So I held a meeting with them and told them that mass treatment must be done.

For some who grew up in the province, I never thought of any negative reactions. But they didn't accept it lightly. Of course here comes the denial that they can never have it. I explained that this needs to be done to prevent it from spreading. Eventually they went with it.

When I gave them the sachets of shampoo, one yaya asked if she could use a conditioner afterwards. I told her not to use any when using the shampoo. It might react with the permethrin. Next thing to buy would be fine tooth comb called "suyod".

I do hope in the coming weeks, this will soon be over.
