So today a med rep from Nestle came into my office for courtesy call. He was new to the area so he saw it fit to make the courtesy call. When he mentioned he is from Nestle, I recalled a same instance during my field work last year that a med rep came to me to show her products. It was a female med rep last year.
I asked him what his products were. He mentioned different brands of milk. Before he could proceed I reminded him of the Milk Code. I asked him if he had read it, and he said yes.
So I signed his attendance sheet to let his superiors know that indeed he came to my office. Then he asked to get my number. I asked him why? He said Nestle might give me a free trip to their factory to show me how their products are made. I didn't hear him quite well so I ask again, "free?" And he said, "yes". I said, "are you sure?" He said again, "Yes". I said then that it would be a violation of the milk code. As far as I can remember, that would fall as incentives or gifts. I asked him again if he had read the milk code and again he said yes. So I told him to read again the milk code.
I do not know how other doctors deal with personnel from milk companies but this is my way of supporting the milk code. I do not know if Nestle is really giving free trips or it was the med rep's idea of enticing doctors to give their numbers but it doesn't work for me. I am still for breastfeeding even when my kids are now on follow-on formula. I am still breastfeeding my youngest who is now 1 year 6 months old.
And by the way, I didn't give him my number.
Free trips from Nestle???

Recently I've discovered this online shop on instagram. She sells cute bracelets at a very affordable price. The colors are very lovely and the seller's so easy to talk to. She didn't mind all my inquiries which is a plus points for me.
The kids loved the bracelets!
