Watercolor Workshop

Saturday, August 6, 2016

A month ago I joined a Watercolor Workshop by April San Pedro and Jad Montenegro. I've been aching to join such a workshop that I was not late for this one. Usually I'm late on workshops by about 5 to 10 mins but with this, I was early. Hihihi

I find watercolor very difficult to color. Sure there are a lot of videos in You Tube but I still find it difficult to follow them along. Plus workshops like this don't usually happen here in Davao.

So here are a few shots of that workshop plus my final output during that day.

This is Jad. She makes watercolor look so easy to do.

Ah, my partner in front took this photo of me, while I as well took her photo.

This was my first output.

This is my second output.

July's Bilateral Tubal Ligation

Friday, August 5, 2016

I have been posting several times about this kind of an activity and you know what, the reactions are just getting better and better. The longer we've been doing this, everything gets smoother and smoother. Again thank you to Jerome Foundation, Jhapiego - Mindanao Health, Provincial Government of Davao Occidental and the Municipal Health Offices of Sta. Maria, Malita and Don Marcelino.

We were able to do tubal ligations to about 45 patients. In between these procedures, there were  appendectomies and a circumcision.

Dr. Glinard Quezada giving out instructions before the procedures started. Ma'am Maritess Wood of Jhapiego - Mindanao Health (in green shirt) also seen in the photo.

Interlocal Health Zone Workshop

With the thrust of the Duterte Health Agenda to strengthen Service Delivery Network, this workshop came at such a perfect timing. It was a much needed workshop to finally move forward and concentrate on important matters.

The SAMMADOM Interlocal Health Zone consists of the Municipality of Sta. Maria, Malita, Don Marcelino and now with the inclusion of JAS or Jose Abad Santos. With this event, we hope to strengthen ties together with the hospitals and better serve the people.

Thank you DOH, Jhapiego - Mindanao Health, PHO and all the rest.

Barangay Demoloc Nutrition Month Celebration 2016

Thursday, August 4, 2016

It was an honour and a priviledge to be invited to the barangay's nutrition month celebration. It was participated by the different schools in the barangay, preparing different dishes and of course, their own take of a Tagacaulo dish. It was a very tasteful afternoon.

I was able to witness not only different styles of cooking certain dishes, but also what the natives used in the old times as their utensils. With the change and adaptation to modern living, it is great to see that their customs have been preserved.

This, I was told, is cooked salt. Yap, we have the same reaction. They just scrape salt whenever they need one. This is a great way to preserve food don't you think?

This is how they get their all natural sweetener, by pressing sugar cane (tama ba?)

Well, he just had to try it out for himself. And guess what, we brought this home with us. They offered to give it to us, but since they were using it at home, hubby decided to pay for it. Nonetheless, it was a piece of history that we wanted to take with us.

Wondered how they make puso? I did too and I saw they made a lot of these to use as a decoration.

Congratulations to the barangay council, teachers, parents and students!
