When you have vacation and the kids in one sentence, expect for horrible stories you would want to forget about. They say these are the best times to travel because you get discounts in tickets especially for those below 2 years old. Some would also say that you need not bring them along because they will not understand and they will not recall everything. And there are those who'd tell you that they (the kids) don't deserve to get to go anywhere because they haven't earned it yet. For those of you who have no kids yet, let me tell you this: there is no rule, or way or code that tells you how to bring your kids up. I don't know how we did it, maybe it's what we saw with our own parents. But my kids are growing up healthy and good, I guess we're doing it right.
At night, I wonder why I keep doing the same thing over and over again and nag in my head how tiring it was to travel with kids. And yet on the next year, we plan for another place to go with the kids. I recall moments when I have had too much of everything that I tend to yell at them. I recall of the long hours in the plane while my kids are cranky and tired and just kept shouting and crying in the plane. I remember when M was much younger, how much he hated seatbelts that he'd find a way to get out of it. He got creative with seat belts over time.
I believe there are things in life that we could not teach them. There are some things in life that are better experienced than just by reading them in books. And there are things in life that make them more mature than other kids because of what they saw, and heard, and learned and realized on their own. As I have previously mentioned, M got creative with seatbelts. He used to just slide down past his seatbelt all the way to the floor of the plane so that he can get out of it. He likes watching the clouds and used to stand by his window just gazing at it. K waits for the food to be served. We usually flew with Ceb Pac, she knows there's food coming and she knows which one to buy. R and K usually fights for the window. Overtime, they tend to request for their own luggages, their own space for their own things.
We get to know the kids better. What they like best. And what things will they most likely try. It tested us as parents, as husband and wife, as partners and as friends. It taught us a lot of things, patience, kindness and love.
The sights and sounds of being in the place, cannot be disregarded. As they say, "to see is to believe." I'd like to add, "to see is to feel and to believe."

I was told that this was an old book. A very beautiful story. They remained friends even after they got married. They helped each other grow. Truly wonderful and truly heartbreaking too. I was crying and couldn't make myself sleep.
Looking for the 2nd part of this book.

I was arranging bills, putting them in an envelope while glancing on the TV with "The Mummy" on.
M was playing with his transformer robot.
M: mommy can we watch superman?
Me: (pretending not to hear him.)
M: Mommy can we watch superman pwease... pwease pwease...
Me: lets brush your teeth first. (With a firm voice)
M: ok... and then, we'll watch superman.
Me: (moving my head in disbelief)
Sometimes this boy can really surprise me. One day we could barely understand what he was saying or what he wanted. These days, he surprises everyone with how he presents his case and I can be a slave to his wit.

It's 2AM and I find myself still wide awake. No kids or husband to help me fall asleep this time, at least for tonight or this early. Although it's a bit hazy to look at the screen but I am awake. To kill the time and hopefully be in slumber, I try to watch movies, in this case a TV series. I just finished watching Elementary and now I'm into House.
There is so much going on in health that sometimes you tend to lose the other side of being a doctor. I always found myself treating patients, catching babies, suturing, all sorts of dirty work. But there is also the other side of it... administrative. And sometimes it consumes the whole of your being. Whilst being consumed, you tend to forget things... dosages, maintenance formula for IV fluids during hydration, and other stuff.
House or House MD if you wanna google it was part of our reviewer in taking the board exam. Back when the TV series started, it was the height of my medical education. Every week, a new case was on. We'd make a silly bet that the case would come out in our exams. Well some of it did.
It's reminiscent of my younger years (ouch). But it's also reminiscent of why I went into medicine. And not the administrative dealings that goes with it. Treating people, connecting with people, solving the puzzle of illnesses. The rationale of having big medical books in order to understand the human body, and not human politics. Sometimes, I just wanna concentrate on treating people... and not treating the system.
Well... back to House MD!

Sometimes when I leave the house I tend to forget to put on some lotion. Seems like I'm always in a hurry. Hubby would wait on me by the door. If eyes could speak, he would be saying, "Are you ready to go?" :)
Every time we stay in a hotel, hubby likes to keep the vanity kits. Except for the hotel soap which I always use to wash my hands, everything else, we keep. Since we bring our own soap and shampoo, we never use the hotel kits. It was only until a few months ago that I realized how convenient these things are, especially hotel lotions.
Since I wash my hands a couple of times a day, my hands tend to get dry. Traveling a lot also makes my skin dry. This is where this thing comes in handy. I can just put on some lotion even when we're traveling. Really really convenient.
So the next time you stay in the hotel, check out their vanity kits.

A few more watercolor paintings I've done. Had to do it twice just to try to have the feel of working with watercolor. As in the title, this is Blue sky and grass.

I would love to do watercolor painting. I've stocked up on a few paints but I've always had second thoughts about it. Somehow, it is very difficult to control.
Just sharing a few strokes that I did. It's a start. I'm liking it though. The more I'm making, the more I'm liking it. These were done about two to three weeks back. Paper is from Monologue journal for mix media.
