New Year... New Beginning

Tuesday, January 9, 2018

It's the start of the year and there is sooo much to do - at work and at home.

What better way to start the year than to declutter and organize things. When I say declutter, my dear sister has done that for us. She just threw away everything she thought was not used and that included my branded shoes, which as of this writing, must be in the trash or in someone else’s closet. I have no idea where it is.

By organizing, I mean putting everything in their proper order. And that includes my children’s stuff. Extra shoe boxes were transformed into beautiful boxes to hide their toys and tiny things.

Plus, we have decided to take out gadgets from the kids entirely and allow only two hours of television time. It is quite difficult for all of us. Trying to figure out what to do for the rest of the day. But it is all for the best. We'd like to inculcate reading and rely solely on their imagination for things to do.

I’ve also started to learn new things as well: how to take better photos with my iphone and how to write better - essays, poems, letters and all. I've subscribed to Udemy. Well there are other platforms out there. There's Masterclass, Skillshare and others. I start with this.

And because I have to put everything in practice, consider this as my first essay. And here is my first photo (well, I chose this one for publication):

Nightlight of Davao City

I do not want to explain why the photo is such. If you like it, well and good. If you don’t like it, I really wouldn’t care.

Learning is never easy but it should be fun, well at least on my opinion. We have to enhance ourselves, not only physically, but what's on the inside. I will try to post more, if not here, maybe on my other social media account.

How about you, what's in store for you?

Life according to Reese

My daughter takes good photos. Why? Because I taught her. Hahahaha No I'm not an expert on taking good photos, I just told her how to point and shoot and she does all the rest. For a 3-year-old, she's pretty good at it. Here are some of the photos taken during my sister's birthday celebration at Ahfat 3. The first few photos she used the Lomo app on my iphone. The rest is standard camera photo still on my iphone.

Still needs a lot of practicing. She may become an excellent photographer someday.

Home and Crocodile Park

Friday, April 29, 2011

As I have mentioned in my previous post, I was inspired to take photos when I stumbled upon iheartfaces.com. They give you a quick tutorial on the basics of photography. Plus, they had an article on great apps for my iphone. They also introduced me to Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3. It's not as easy as they tell you but it's a food application.

So when we had another visit at Crocodile Park, I was happy clicking my camera looking for good shots. I've also included photos taken at home. Some I took, and some by my daughter Reese. I must say, she's got some talent.

Some of the photos are in their original colors, some I had to tweak a bit to make them more dramatic.

My daughter, kate, sleeping.

Using the bathroom in between swimming in the kiddie pool. She just had to go. hahaha

And then they woke up. Happy being photographed!

Kate saw this at the butterfly park and I just had to take a shot.

Reese loves looking at this pond. She always stops by before circling the butterfly park.

Having fun on the slides and swings.

Something to take my mind off of things

I found this great website (iheartfaces.com) while browsing through my favorite blogs. It has so many tips on how to get good photos. Even us non-professionals can do them too. You might wanna check it out if you're into photography.

For me, I just love taking pictures. I don't have the skills and the gift but that's why we have brains right? TO LEARN...

Enjoy...
