I decided to bump off my scheduled post to give way for this. I can't wait to tell you what happened yesterday. I finally get to attend the babywearing event held at The Pod. I decided to join simply because I like wearing Marco with me. Aside from the fact he's getting heavier each day, it's the most convenient way to keep him close to me.
I brought his 2 yayas. (1 yaya is complaining of swelling of right deltoid muscle due to persistent carrying, hence the 2 yayas. yeah that's how heavy he is.) 1 yaya has been babywearing since my second child using the baby pouch. Now we're trying to master the ring sling. Soon we'll be using the saya carrier.
So we attended the 10:30 class and met some awesome people. I finally got to meet Jenny Ong of Chronicles of a Nursing Mom, Alex Hao of The Pod, and Lyn of The Oak and Acorn. Plus I saw Jenny Tan again of Next9.
We had a blast and can't wait for the next event.

So yesterday I finally decided to donate my breastmilk. I have long been thinking about it. And my freezer cannot wait anymore. I have piles and piles of milk, literally. Sorry that I didn't have a photo of it. I was in a rush not to let the milk defreeze. Thank you hubby for helping me out and for carrying the two boxes of styrofoam.
We were able to give more than 20 bags of milk. It contained about 4-8 ounces of milk dated last week of February to May 8, 2012. Hubby and I felt food about it. No regrets here. We're happy that babies at Southern Philippines Medical Center will have milk for weeks, I hope.
God Bless everyone. Drive safe on your way to work.

It seems that it was only yesterday when hubby used to control her car:)
Now, she controls the car and not her dad. She's growing up so fast.

| She now knows how to make turns and drive in reverse, though with a teeny tiny help but daddy |
Now I keep telling her that she'll be driving me around soon. And she's fine with that.

Recently, I won a breast pump from Manila Fashion Observer which was sponsored by Babymama. I wanted to have another breast pump after buying my spectra. And the timing was just right. I couldn't wait for it to arrive. I was excited!
When finally it came! I slowly opened the package, examining every parts included. (By the way, this is my third breast pump).
At first glance, it looks kinda weird, having different controls for speed and suction. I was afraid that it might hurt me so I started with the lowest suck, and the slowest speed, working my way to full blast. It wasn't painful at all. In fact, I love it.
It is lightweight and handy. I can carry it anywhere. I tried putting 6 AA batteries. Yes you read it right, six (6) batteries and it felt the same as if it was plugged.
Okay enough with the positive side, let's move on to the negative ones.
First, although it looked like you can put two Ameda bottles, it really doesn't fit the whole bottle. It really doesn't fit at all. It may serve as a stand for the bottles, but even then, your bottles may end up falling instead.
Second, although you can put AA batteries, it would have been better if it had rechargeable batteries like the medela freestyle. It would have been more hassle free.
Third, the adapters are heavy.
Other than that, I'm happy with my Ameda.
Thank you Manila Fashion Observer and Babymama for the wonderful prize!

It has been a long time since I posted on my blog. Had to repeatedly be admitted due to dengue, vaginal spotting and finally the birth of our precious son. It wasn't an easy delivery. He was delivered via cesarean section. Delivered at DDH with no complications.
Thank you Dr. Monteverde, Dr. Co, Dr. Estuart, Dr. Eden, Dr. Rioferio, Dr. Manny, Dr. Moreno and to the nurses who assisted.

As i have said in my previous blogs, brestfeeding wasn't thoroughly taught in medical school. We were never taught on the correct latch or how often should you breastfeed or the medications that are or are not allowed for brestfeeding mothers. If someone in my batch would disagree then i would say that i may have been absent on the day it was taught.
I breastfed my eldest for only 2 and a half months. I found it painful and tiring. My husband kept insisting that i feed her with my milk but it was too painful for me. Nobody taught me anything. So my milk dwindle.
When I got pregnent with my second child, K, i was determined to breastfeed for as long as I could. I read and read and read thru the internet, thru books and thru blogs. When K finally came it wasn't easy. My milk didn't come out till she was 4 days old. So i fed her formula for the first few days. When my milk came, it wasn't enough to satisfy her. For a couple of weeks with a day or two intervals, i had to pump every 2 hours to increase milk production. I was taking many supplements. It wasn't easy but we breastfed for more than 6 months.
When I got pregnant with G, i decided that I wasn't gonna breastfeed for long. I initially thought that being out in the field often, it would be difficult to pump. But i think Divine Intervention got in the way. While I was on twitter, a lot of whom I was following kept talking about breastmilk and breastfeeding. This got me interested... Again. So a lot of blog post and a few realizations later, here I am breastfeeding and pumping my almost 3 week old son and I've never regreted doing it again.
Sure it's costly at first. I had to buy a new breastpump, more breastfeeding accessories and it takes a lot of your time, day and night. But knowing that he's having the best food I could give coupled with love and affection, and looking at him gobble up all that magic milk, that's the best feeling in the world.

Whenever you hear a bad news, do you easily get mad and lash out at somebody or do you take time alone and reflect at how you're gonna deal with it? It's not easy to control emotions especially when it's something that really ticks you off.
I found out that one of our housemaids is pregnant. Her boyfriend is my brother's bodyguard. I don't know what pushed my button but when i got the text from some anonymous neighbor who happen to have texted 2 of my cp numbers, I was irritated. I wanted to lash out and shout at them. But I couldn't speak to her just yet. I had to wait for my daughter to sleep so I can leave the kids to hubby.
When we sat down, i couldn't get to shout at her. Instead we had a very serious conversation. Maybe I realized that there is no point in being mad. Everything has happened and there is nothing to change it.
I forgot to mention that the guy has 2 kids from a previous relationship. I was told by the housemaid that he was never married in church or on any legal documents.
In the end I told her to save money starting today and not to leave everything up to the guy. I gave her a list of what she needed to do and what she needed to buy. She decided to stop working and take a much needed rest. She was beginning to have the first trimester blues.
Looking back, maybe I was mad because I got the news from somebody else. But with a baby involved, I can never say it's a mistake. I told her that a baby is "always" a blessing!
