Next stop for the RHU On WHEELS was Barangay Pinalpalan. With over a 100 patients, both pregnant, old and young, their immediate needs hopefully were met. The smiles of pregnant mothers seeing their child on the ultrasound machine screen is priceless. We would like to thank the barangay officials for the very warm accomodation. Thank you also to Dr. Glinard Quezada for coming with us, bringing additional medicines for the young and old. We look forward to our next stop, barangays Kilalag and Lagumit.

RHU ON WHEELS at Barangay Little Baguio

With the technical assistance from the World Health Organization, Malita has started its RHU on Wheels to provide the basic health services to far flung barangays. This is a twist of the usual medical mission that we give, but its close to the Buntis Congress which was previously done. It's aim is to cater to the needs of pregnant women, those afflicted with cardiovascular disease and those who are in need of medical attention. With the support of the Provincial Medical Outreach Team headed by Dr. Glinard L. Quezada, we were able to attain what we aimed for. We hoped that we have satisfied our clients. Here are some of the shots during that activity.

PMA National Orientation and Leadership Seminar

Last weekend, I was blessed to attend the Philippine Medical Association's National Orientation and Leadership Seminar. Mind you, I used the word "blessed" because first off, the 9:05 am Cebu Pacific flight was cancelled due to problems with the aircraft. We almost, almost decided not to attend. But since we were with some doctor friends, we decided to go anyway. And thank God we did. And thank God the flight landed safely. Well with the delay in our flight, I came in late. 

The first day was an orientation of the structure of Philippine Medical Association (PMA), which for new officers are very very informative. There are now 119th Component Societies and Davao Occidental Medical Society is the newest component society (woohoo!!!). Well being a new society comes with much work. 

The second day was more informative as we had great speakers to end the seminar. First off, let me just say that the President, Dr. Minerva Calimag is a techie. She has done a lot of techie stuff for the love of education and mind you, she's very active in facebook too.

We also had Atty. Marc Fabian Castrodes who spoke on Excellence in Motivational Leadership. A very inspiring speaker. He had so many to share, info on good books to read like "Drive" and "The Power of Habit". Maybe I'll try looking for his books as well, he said he wrote books too. And he is from Davao.

M's First Day in School

First day of school is always so intense for small kids. I had those times when I was younger. So when my two older daughters started school, it wasn't new to me that they'd be having a hard time in  the beginning.

So here comes my little boy, the bunso. For starters, he's very active, does what he wants, says what he thinks, fights for what he wants. Before classes began, we started talking to him about school, and he would always say, "No school." When we bought his shoes, we struggled to keep him still to try out the sizes. And to all the pairs of shoes we chose, he would always so, "no." But we had to settle for something.

First day came and I was bracing for the inevitable. He squirmed and cried and wanted to go home. I left him for a while because I didn't want him clinging on to me but I had to go back to school 'cuz he didn't wanna go inside the room without me. Lo and behold, he slept the remainder of the school hours ;)

Patience is a virtue, I always say. It takes practice and familiarity to keep him in school. With a very active boy, I know this is only the tip of the iceberg.
