Bonding Time

Saturday, March 17, 2012

I was not able to go to work yesterday. K was crying and was complaining of gum pains. She was vomiting and would just want to be carried most of the time. I had to bring her to the dentist to have her teeth checked. Everything was fine. When she was told everything was fine, she was happy about it. She wasn't crying much anymore. She was demanding we take her to Central Warehouse. SO we bought a few item and head home.

We spent the next few hours cooking. More of, hubby spend the next few hours in the kitchen making puto cheese. Did I mention he is a better cook than I am?:) He used to cook all the time during our internship days. We'd sleep for long hours after duties and he'd cook our food afterwards.

The kids had a blast. And the puto was delicious, bias aside:)

In the afternoon I was tired and wanted to sleep, but K wouldn't leave my side. She just wanted to be near me. I wanted to rest for hours. But I only got a few minutes when yaya took her outside to play. As I was lying in bed, I thought that this would be a good opportunity to not just take of them but bond with them. SO hurriedly, I rose from the bed and announced we'd play some games. So we spent the afternoon playing: O-O-7, Luksong tinik, Taguan and habulan. The kids were drenched in sweat and laughing.

Hope you'll have a great weekend ahead of you.

BOOhoo

Friday, March 16, 2012

I remember one time while I was pumping my milk in the restroom (good thing there was a sofa) while I was attending a post-graduate course when two doctors came in. I ranted before how some hotels and even hospitals don't have breasfeeding rooms. I knew them since I tried adjunctship for two days (yeah two days!). I don't mind if they won't acknowledge the fact that we know each other, but what gets in my nerve is when they started talking behind my back. Oh yes I can hear them. They were saying, "What is she doing?" Obviously they haven't tried pumping. No, they haven't been a mother.

After that incident, I vowed not to let it affect me but it did and still does. Whenever I see them around, I don't look at them anymore. I don't try to be friendly anymore. I just don't mind them anymore. Period.

I just wish they don't experience what they made me feel. But if they did, they deserved it!

Tantrums and Mothers

I was reading an article yesterday about what mothers should do when your child starts having her tantrums right in the middle of a grocery store. What's makes this so much interesting is not the fact that I have kids who have had tantrums while I was doing the errands. (Thank God for yayas who makes life with kids easier.) I was one of those kids.

I remember going to the department store with my aunt and I saw this barbie which cost around P299. I wanted my aunt to buy me that doll but she was stiff and did not want to give in. So I cried and cried. I remember people watching me but I did not mind them, all I wanted was that barbie. She had to drag me home. After that, my aunt wouldn't bring me to the mall for fear of having the same incident. Good thing the mall was just a block away from home.

Now back to the article. She was telling a story about a blog she read. It was telling her how one woman would prefer that mothers with kids having tantrums right in the middle of a grocery store should just leave her groceries, leave everything and take her child out of the store as they might disturb some other shoppers.

The writer on the other hand wants to do the opposite. Instead of running out of the store, why not give your child a balloon to play with. And she was keen to point out a few things.

First, we will never know when our child will have her/his tantrums. They might be in a good mood now but in a while will start crying to their hearts content. They might even roll on the ground god forbid.

Second, these mothers are already embarrassed as it is, add to that these looks she get with some shoppers.

Third, instead of glaring at them, why not help them out. Offer to take the groceries while they pacify their kids. Offer an extra toy if you have one in your bag.

Lastly, never judge. The kid might have been up all day and is sleepy. Or that kid might have been in a good mood till that time.

These are my own words. If you want to read up on her article you can click here.

My First Cath Kidston BAg

Thursday, March 15, 2012

I've been obsessing about Cath Kidston bags for months now. You know how I'm a big fan of Ms. Daphne Paez. I was never really into that style of bag but I've been seeing it over and over and over again that I got obsessed with it.

It's not cheap here. And it's hard to find someone selling cheap but authentic Cath Kidston bags. So I was really really happy when I chanced upon Cath Kidston Phil site on multiply. This was endorsed by French Macaroons facebook page. And this is what I bought...

My very first Cath Kidston bag, and certainly not the last:) For now it has served as a kids' bag and my bag.
